Corporate Psychology Therapy FAQ
How does an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) actually work?
An EAP is an employer-funded intervention program designed to support the mental health of your staff. Under our EAP structure, your company pre-approves a set number of confidential therapy sessions per employee, per year. Employees can contact our Edgecliff clinic directly to book a session. We handle the support, and your company is invoiced securely, providing your team with immediate, barrier-free access to professional help when they need it most.
Will management know what an employee discusses in their sessions?
Absolutely not. Strict clinical confidentiality is maintained at all times. While we provide management with de-identified, high-level reporting on EAP usage (for example, how many sessions were utilised in a quarter for billing purposes), no personal details, names, or session contents are ever shared with the employer without the employee’s explicit written consent.
Can we engage your services for a single crisis, or do we need an ongoing contract?
We offer complete flexibility to suit your business needs. While many organizations partner with Armchair Psychology for ongoing EAP retainers or long-term leadership development, you can absolutely bring us in for one-off services. This includes critical incident debriefing (such as after a workplace accident, restructure, or sudden loss of a colleague) or a single, targeted conflict-resolution mediation.
Are your corporate workshops off-the-shelf or customised?
We do not believe in generic slide decks. Before conducting any training or team-building workshop, our psychologists consult with your HR or leadership team to understand your specific company culture, industry pressures, and current team dynamics. We then tailor the content—whether it is stress management, resilience, or time management—to directly address your organization’s exact pain points.
Do you offer coaching for managers struggling to lead their teams?
Yes. Executive coaching is a cornerstone of our corporate services. Often, high-performing individuals are promoted to management without the psychological toolkit needed to lead people. We work one-on-one with leaders to develop their emotional intelligence, navigate difficult performance management conversations, and learn how to balance strategic business goals with supportive, empathetic leadership.
What is the return on investment (ROI) for corporate psychology?
Investing in employee mental health is a measurable business strategy. Extensive research shows that proactive psychological support directly correlates with significant reductions in unplanned personal leave, lower staff turnover rates, and a decrease in stress-related workers’ compensation claims. Simply put, employees who feel mentally supported are more engaged, more resilient to organizational change and significantly more productive.
